How it works

Simply register an account on BetMGM, and once your credentials are verified, $25 will be placed in your bonus wallet. For instance, Multi-Hand Blackjack Pro forces the dealer to hit on soft 17, which is unfavorable for the player. However, Vegas Downtown does not enforce this rule. Doubles on any two are allowed regardless of the game, as are doubles after splits.

Blackjack Xchange is an interesting variant where players can pay to switch one of the bad cards in their hand, or get paid to switch out a good one. Otherwise, pretty standard blackjack rules apply. It is worth noting that the house charges an approximately 2.5% premium on exchanged cards, which is way higher than the house edge of a blackjack game with decent rules.

Other table games

BetMGM doesn't offer a ton of non-blackjack digital table games, but give it credit for going against the grain and supporting lesser-known products that can't be found on many other NJ online casino sites.

There are single-line games by Spin, which we found to not play as well and offer downgraded paytables. Probably best to fade these.

In total, 12 video poker games are present on the site, but there are some duplicates.

Just like the two previous ones, this is also an even-chance strategy. That means that you can use it on black/red, odd/even, or 1-18/19-36 bets. 

The goal with this strategy is to increase your bet by 1 when you win and decrease it by 1 when you lose. For example, you bet $5 and win, your next bet should be $6. Win again and your next bet is $7. If you lose the next bet, you should then wager $6. And so on. 

While this is not a safe strategy, it is much better suited for players who do not want to take high risks but still prefer roulette over other recreational casino games.

Fibonacci Roulette System

Finally, the Fibonacci roulette system is another progressive strategy which uses the Fibonacci mathematical theory to improve your chances at winning. For instance, Multi-Hand Blackjack Pro forces the dealer to hit on soft 17, which is unfavorable for the player. However, Vegas Downtown does not enforce this rule. Doubles on any two are allowed regardless of the game, as are doubles after splits.

Blackjack Xchange is an interesting variant where players can pay to switch one of the bad cards in their hand, or get paid to switch out a good one. Otherwise, pretty standard blackjack rules apply. It is worth noting that the house charges an approximately 2.5% premium on exchanged cards, which is way higher than the house edge of a blackjack game with decent rules.

Other table games

There are single-line games by Spin, which we found to not play as well and offer downgraded paytables. Probably best to fade these.

Is BetMGM available for play on mobile devices?

Yes. These days, it isn't uncommon for new NJ online casino sites to pair the launch of their desktop client with a comprehensive mobile offering, and BetMGM does just that.

The newly-revamped BetMGM casino app is available for both Android and iOS powered devices. At present, it can be downloaded directly from the main BetMGM NJ casino site, as well as the Apple Store. Due to Android's restrictions on gambling apps, it is not available on Google Play.

Players will be pleased to know that nearly all of the games available on the main BetMGM Casino site have made the transition to mobile.

Of the games on mobile, the overwhelming majority are slots. These include the site's numerous jackpot slots, as well as many of its featured and new offerings.

The table game and video poker selections are less impressive. There's three blackjack games and a single roulette title, and three single line video poker variants (Jacks or Better, Bonus Poker, and Double Double Bonus Poker) from Game King. However, Live Dealer games are available on mobile, which was a very pleasant surprise.

Since launching, BetMGM has updated its platform significantly (including a full overhaul in September 2019), and the results are generally very positive. Mobile players won't experience the same frequency of slow loading times and geolocation errors they did a couple of years ago. Also, many account management features and lobby filters have been added, including a full cashier, promotional and loyalty info. What's more, accessing account management menus is way less janky than it was before the revamp.

But perhaps the biggest improvement is that players can now access the online casino and sportsbook all from a single app. Also, casino, sports, and poker all share a single wallet, although in order to play poker on BetMGM, players will have to download separate software.

Overall, the new BetMGM Casino app is both well-designed and ambitious, offering players tons of gaming options, as well as access to all the account management features available on desktop.

Game selection on MGM online casino

In terms of raw numbers, BetMGM's game selection is toward the top of the pack, inching ahead of sister site Borgata Casino. There are over 430 titles in total, including a swatch of network exclusives, like progressives that award life-changing top prizes.

Slots

Slots dominate the BetMGM online casino lobby. At present, the site supports over 400 virtual terminals, and we expect that number to swell with each passing week. Players will be treated to an eclectic blend of penny slots, the majority of which feature cool aesthetics, one or more bonus games, and better returns than machines found on Atlantic City casino floors.

Popular titles like Cleopatra, Zeus III, China Shores, and Super Monopoly Money are among just a few of the games slot fans will recognize.

BetMGM also offers approximately a dozen exclusive standard slots. Like the non-exclusives, these games are primarily penny slots with low minimum bets, typically under $1.

The site offers a couple of sorting options to make finding specific titles easier, but we do wish it would at least filter slots by provider. Right now, you either have to scour the Featured or New tabs for the more sought after games, search for a particular slot manually, or rummage through the entire slot selection. Jackpot slots

One area in which BetMGM truly excels is in jackpot, or progressive, slots. Whereas many casinos only offer one or two games where players can spin their way to life-changing funds, BetMGM has a grand total of 14, some of which offer top prizes in the millions.

BetMGM links a progressive for five slots, and shares this progressive with the same slots on Borgata Casino and Party Casino. As such, it grows quickly, currently approaching the $3 million mark. However, fair warning: this jackpot hasn't been hit in years. No one said scoring $3 million would be easy.

The site also links five more slots for a mini-jackpot, which usually numbers in the thousands of dollars. This one hits far more frequently. Blackjack

BetMGM does a decent job with blackjack, providing five digital games, as well as the aforementioned Live Dealer variants. They are:

  • Multi-Hand Blackjack Pro
  • Blackjack by IGT
  • Blackjack by NetEnt
  • Vegas Downtown Blackjack Multi-Player
  • Blackjack Xchange

All of these games payout 3:2 on blackjacks, and otherwise offer rules that are in line with Atlantic City games. That is to say they're pretty good games, but not the very best. For instance, Multi-Hand Blackjack Pro forces the dealer to hit on soft 17, which is unfavorable for the player. However, Vegas Downtown does not enforce this rule. Doubles on any two are allowed regardless of the game, as are doubles after splits.

Blackjack Xchange is an interesting variant where players can pay to switch one of the bad cards in their hand, or get paid to switch out a good one. Otherwise, pretty standard blackjack rules apply. It is worth noting that the house charges an approximately 2.5% premium on exchanged cards, which is way higher than the house edge of a blackjack game with decent rules.

Other table games

BetMGM doesn't offer a ton of non-blackjack digital table games, but give it credit for going against the grain and supporting lesser-known products that can't be found on many other NJ online casino sites.

On the more traditional end is roulette, and BetMGM offers just two of these games: American Roulette Pro, and European Roulette Pro. Neither games are particularly fancy or feature-rich, but they do the job. Of course, always play the European version of the game, as the wheel only has a single-zero, and thus affords better odds.

Moving to the more obscure, BetMGM supports a craps game. Craps may be popular at retail casinos, but since it promotes a highly engaged social atmosphere, the game hasn't taken off online. But BetMGM is giving it a shot anyhow, so if you don't care about rolling your own dice, or chatting with a bunch of tablemates, this game will work for you.

Also on display are Texas Hold'Em Bonus Poker, and Casino Hold'em Poker: two games that are largely similar in that you're trying to make a better five-card poker hand than the dealer. It's difficult to find either of these games in digital form outside BetMGM and its sister sites Borgata Casino and Party Casino.

We would have liked to see BetMGM go even further with its table game selection, perhaps offering Three Card Poker, digital Baccarat, and Let it Ride. But at present, they're nowhere to be found.

Video poker

BetMGM has a respectable selection of video poker games, including several single-line Game King products which return ~99% or higher with optimal play. There are also three- and five-line variants with slightly less favorable paytables. Staples include Jacks or Better, Bonus Poker, and Double Double Bonus Poker.

There are single-line games by Spin, which we found to not play as well and offer downgraded paytables. Probably best to fade these.

In total, 12 video poker games are present on the site, but there are some duplicates.

Promotions on MGM online casino

Promotions on BetMGM are a decidedly mixed bag. On one hand, there's a lot of promos to enjoy, with offers ranging from deposit matches, to loss-back offers, and increased iRewards points. Every month, expect to see a swatch of new promos, and a different offer to enjoy virtually every day.

BetMGM also offers its loyal players personalized promos, much like a retail casino does. These are basically the equivalent of mailers, where players will receive additional freeplay offers based on their recent play.

All well and good, but here's the problem: the wagering requirement on any sort of freeplay promo is so high that it diminishes their value greatly. We're talking 30x on slots, and much more on table games and video poker. Additionally, Live Chat agents don't appear to know the product as well as they should. Often times, we had to go to great lengths to help agents understand what we were asking. Phone and email communication were marginally more satisfying, but these agents were also severely in need of more training.

BetMGM is more than just a powerful brand.
